People often ask “I need a website. Where to start?” Here’s my #1 advice.
Who are you serving? What do they want and How did they land on your site? For example, a user may have googled “How to make baskets” and found your class. Another saw pictures on Facebook and want to buy the jewelry you make. Yet another wants to contact you because they are organizing an event.
Come up with such User Stories. Design the site so that your typical visitors can easily find what they look for. Focus on these function as your primary guideline.
AFTER that, Write down a sitemap – just a list of structure of your main content.
Also important: Collect some sample sites that you like, to communicate the visual to your developers.
